About Configuring a Web Policy
Secure Web Gateway allows you to enforce a web policy with rules and rule sets that protect your web traffic against all kinds of threats. This traffic is generated when users of your organization who work with cloud services perform tasks such as browsing websites or downloading files.
The user interface for Secure Web Gateway that is provided for working with these rules and rule sets is also referred to as the Web Policy Builder. From this view of the user interface, you can switch to the code view to review the code that underlies the rules of your web policy.
You can configure your web policy as follows:
-
Configure rules and rule sets — You can configure the settings for individual rules or entire rule sets. For example, you can specify that anti-malware filtering rules should not be applied when a user requests to download a file from a website that is considered safe.
For more information about the options that are provided for this configuration, see Web Policy Page. For an example of how to use these options to configure the rules in a particular rule set, see Global Bypass Lists — Allow Global Access to Web Objects. -
Create rules — You can create rules of your own using the Rule Builder that is provided. For more information, see Create a Rule with the Rule Builder.
-
Review the web policy code — You can review the code that underlies the rules and rule sets of your web policy. For more information, see About the Web Policy Code.
