Web Policy Page
The Web Policy page allows you to configure the rules of your web policy, create rules of your own, and review the code that underlies your web policy rules.
Getting Started is provided as the initial view of this page.
The Web Policy page consists of three sections:
- Rule Set Tree. Shows the rule set branches, and rule sets of your web policy also known as the policy tree. The branches and rule sets are arranged in a tree structure in the navigational panel. Using this, you are able to:
- Select a branch or rule set that you want to review or work on.
- View the information of the selected branch or rule set in the configuration area.

- New Rule Set. It allows adding a new rule set to your web policy. You can add a new rule set to the rule set tree on the navigation panel and the rule set is appended at the bottom of the rule set tree. You can also add a new rule set at any position inside the rule set tree after selecting an existing rule set before.
- Configuration area. Allows you to configure the rules of your web policy, create new rules, and work on the policy code. It also provides important general information about these activities. What you see in this area varies depending on what you have selected on the navigation panel.
- If you select Getting Started on the navigation panel, you can see the information boxes which explain important concepts of web policy configuration with Secure Web Gateway. Clicking a blue box header opens a page with more information.
- If you select any branches, rule sets, and rules, you can expand and view the rule sets with preset rules and configure them. For example, the Global Bypass branch is selected on the rule set tree and expanded, so the rule sets with preset rules that belong to it are also visible in the configuration area.
When a rule set is selected, the rules are shown by default. If they are hidden, click Show to display them.
Rule Set Tree
It shows the rule set branches and rule sets of your web policy in a tree structure and allows you to configure settings for them. On the rule set tree, scroll up or down to select a particular rule set or branch from the navigation panel.
The rule set tree consists of Branches, Rule Sets, and Rules.
Branches
The rule sets of your web policy are embedded in the branches. A branch can have only one rule set. On selecting branches, you can view the information of the selected branches in the configuration area and you can configure these settings for branches:
- Criteria, cycles, and preset rules enablement. The criteria that must be matched for a branch to apply, the processing cycles in which the branch is involved, and enable the preset rules in the rule set.
Rule Sets
The individual rules of your web policy are grouped into rule sets. During Web Gateway's initial setup, each rule set includes preset rules. You can create new rules and add them to the preset rules using the Rule Builder.
You can configure these settings for the rule sets:

Criteria, cycles, and preset rules enablement. You can configure the criteria that must be matched for a rule set to apply, the processing cycles in which the rule set is involved, and enable the preset rules in the rule set.
Rules
Rules are the building blocks of your web policy. When any of the rules are applied, an action against a threat is executed. As a result, web traffic initiated by users of your organization working with cloud services is kept secure.
You can configure settings for the preset rules using the options that are provided.
