About Configuring GRE Tunnels
You can route web traffic from any location through a Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) tunnel to Secure Web Gateway.
GRE tunneling encapsulates data packets within other packets. Endpoints are set up to send and receive the packets. Any routers or Points of Presence (PoPs) between the endpoints will not open the encapsulated packets. They only read the headers coming with these packets in order to forward them.
To build GRE tunnels, you must configure:
-
GRE tunnel settings on Secure Web Gateway, see Configure GRE Tunnels on Secure Web Gateway.
- GRE tunnel settings on a network component that you run together with Secure Web Gateway, see Configuring GRE Tunnels on Your Network Device or in Your SD-WAN Service.
