Manage Client Proxy Tenant Credentials

Client Proxy software helps protect your endpoint users from security threats that arise when they access the web from inside or outside your network. The client software, which is installed on endpoints running Microsoft Windows or macOS, redirects web requests or allows them to continue to a gateway for filtering.

Client Proxy uses your credentials to communicate with other Skyhigh Security products. Credentials consist of a customer ID and a shared secret. You can view your customer ID, modify your shared secret, and import or export your credentials to an .xml file. The users can request Administrators to generate a release code to uninstall Client Proxy from the endpoint when they have a valid business reason.

  • Customer ID — Your customer ID consists of 10 digits and is automatically populated in this field. You can view it, but not edit it.
  • Shared Secret — The shared secret is the password that secures communication between Client Proxy and Skyhigh Web Security Gateway Service. You can modify the shared secret.
  1. Go to Settings > Infrastructure > Client Proxy Management.
  2. In the policy tree, select Global Configuration.
  3. Click Tenant Authentication to open Tenant Authentication and Global Settings.
  4. Click Copy in the Administrator Uninstall Code.
The administrator shares the release code with the user who wants to uninstall Client Proxy for a valid business reason.
  5. From the Actions drop-down list, select an option:

  • Change Shared Secret — Type a new shared secret in the New Shared Secret and Confirm New Shared Secret fields. Click Save to save your changes locally. Make sure to manually update all policies when you modify the shared secret.

Changing the shared secret requires you to manually update all policies.

  • To manually update policies, download a zip archive of existing policies containing all the .opg files:
    • Select Download all Policy files from the Actions drop-down list. Rename the .opg file to SCPPolicy.opg and copy it to the following location on the client computers:
      • Windows-based computers — C:\ProgramData\Skyhigh\SCP\Policy\Temp
      • macOS computers — /usr/local/McAfee/Scp/policy
  • The shared secret is updated in all Client Proxy policies.
  • Import Credentials — Locate the .xml file containing your credentials, then click Open. When the customer ID in the credentials file matches your customer ID in the system, your shared secret in the system is replaced by the shared secret in the file.
  • Export Credentials — You can download your customer ID and shared secret to an .xml file.
  • Download all Policy files — Click Download All in Download All Policy Files. Downloads a zip archive containing all the .opg files for existing policies to your Downloads folder.
  1. Click Save.
Changes to your credentials are saved locally.

You can publish saved changes to the cloud now or keep working and publish later.
