Port Assignments on Newer Models

The following diagrams show the port assignments on the newer appliance models.

These models include the WBG-4500-D and WBG-4500-E as well as the WBG-5x00-D and WBG-5x00-E appliances.

 

WBG-4500-D

This appliance model has six network interfaces, a serial interface, and an RMM interface on its rear panel.

The network interfaces include two onboard interfaces and four interfaces on a built-in IO module on the lower right of the panel.

The network interfaces provide ports, which the operating system assigns names to as follows:

WBG-5000-D and WBG-5500-D

These appliance models use the same hardware platform, which has six network interfaces, a serial interface, and an RMM interface on its rear panel.

The network interfaces include two onboard interfaces, two interfaces on a built-in IO module on the lower right, and two on a network interface card that is preinstalled in a card slot on the upper right.

Four more network interfaces can be added on a network interface card that is installed in the other card slot on the panel. This will increase the number of network interfaces to ten. You must purchase this card on your own and install it.

This appliance model has six network interfaces and an RMM interface on its rear panel.

The network interfaces include four onboard interfaces and two on a network interface card that is preinstalled in a card slot on the upper right.

The network interfaces provide ports, which the operating system assigns names to as shown in the following table.

NOTE: Traffic can be routed with different speed rates through the ports on these interfaces. See the port column of the table.

WBG-5000-E and WBG-5500-E

These appliance models use the same hardware platform, which has six network interfaces, a serial interface, and an RMM interface on its rear panel.

The network interfaces include two onboard interfaces, two interfaces on a built-in IO module on the lower right, and two on a copper network interface card, which is preinstalled in a card slot on the upper right, as shown in this diagram

The network interfaces provide ports, which the operating system assigns names to as shown in the following table.

NOTE: Traffic can be routed with different speed rates through the ports on these interfaces, see the port column.

Four more network interfaces on a fiber card can be added to this configuration, which will increase the number of network interfaces to ten.

You must purchase this card on your own and install it in the slot on the upper left.

WBG-5000-E and WBG-5500-E (alternative configuration)

In an alternative configuration, these appliance models can be run with six network interfaces as follows:

  • Two onboard interfaces
  • No built-in IO module
  • Two interfaces on a preinstalled network interface card in the slot on the upper right
  • Two interfaces on a preinstalled network interface card in the slot on the upper left

You can also purchase a fiber card with four network interfaces and use it in this configuration. Remove the card with two network interfaces from the slot on the upper left then and install this card. This will increase the number of network interfaces to eight.

WBG-5000-E2 and WBG-5500-E2

These appliance models are shipped with four network interfaces as follows:

  • Two onboard interfaces
  • No built-in IO module
  • Two interfaces on a preinstalled network interface card in the slot on the upper right
  • No network interface card preinstalled in the slot on the upper left

You can also purchase a fiber card with four network interfaces and install it in the slot on the upper left. This will increase the number of network interfaces to eight for each model.
