Default Rule Set System

A system of default rule sets is implemented on Secure Web Gateway during the initial setup. These rule sets cover important fields of web security. Some of them have other rule sets embedded.

More rule sets can be imported from a rule set library. You can also create rule sets of your own and modify or delete existing rule sets.

When a request for web access or a response to this request is processed on Secure Web Gateway, the rules in the enabled rule sets are involved in the order that they take in this system, beginning at the top and accounting for all the changes that you have incorporated here.

When a rule applies, it is executed, which can result in stopping the process, for example, when a rule blocks a request.

For more information about this process, see Filtering Process.

The latest version of the default rule system looks as shown in the table below. In older product versions, the default rule set system differed from this. Most of the rule sets in this system are also enabled by default.

For information about how to view this system on the user interface, see View the Default Rule System.
