Make a .pac File Available

You can make a .pac file available for proxy auto-configuration to a web browser on a client.

  1. On the user interface for Secure Web Gateway, upload the .pac file.

    a. Select Troubleshooting > Files

    b. Click Upload, then browse to the .pac file, select it, and store it, for example, in the /opt/mwg/files folder.

  2. Enable ports on file servers for the configuration.

    a. Select Configuration > File Server.

    b. Enable the HTTP or HTTPS file server, or both. The default port for HTTP is 4713, for HTTPS it is 4714.

  3. Configure network settings for the web browser.

    a. Open the browser and navigate to the connection section, then select the settings option.

    b. Select the option for automatic proxy configuration URL, then enter the path and file name for the .pac file.

        For example, enter:

        http://mwgappl.webwasher.com:4713/files/proxy.pac

        or:

        https://mwgappl.webwasher.com:4714/files/proxy.pac

If you want the clients to use a dedicated port for downloading the file, you must first configure this port. If no dedicated port is used,
clients are directed to the HTTP port for the user interface. The default port is 4711 here.

  4. Click OK.
