Configure Network Interface and Central Management Settings for a Director Node in Transparent Bridge Mode

To configure a director node in Transparent Bridge mode, configure a network interface for the Transparent Bridge mode functions and use its IP address for Central Management communication.

This is part of the procedure for configuring the Transparent Bridge mode. We recommend that you begin with this part. For on overview of the complete procedure, see Configure the Transparent Bridge Mode

  1. After selecting the appliance you want to configure as director node from the appliance tree under Configuration | Appliances, click Network interfaces.

  2. Prepare a network interface for the Transparent Bridge mode.

    1. Select a still unused network interface of the appliance, but do not enable it yet.

    2. On the Advanced tab, select Bridge enabled.

    3. In the Name field, type ibr0 as the name of the interface.

    4. On the IPv4 tab, under IP Settings, select Disable IPv4.

    5. Click Save Changes.

      You are logged off and on to the appliance again.

  3. Configure the network interface for the Transparent Bridge mode.

    1. Select Configuration | Appliances. Then select the appliance again, and click Network interfaces.

      An additional network interface named ibr0 is now available.

    2. Select the ibr0 interface.

    3. On the IPv4 tab, configure an IP address, a subnet mask, and a default route for this interface.

    4. Select the checkbox next to the interface to enable it.

  4. Configure the network interface that is currently used to access the appliance as network interface for the Transparent Bridge mode.

    1. Select the network interface that is currently used to access the appliance.

    2. On the Advanced tab, select Bridge enabled.

    3. In the Name field, type ibr0 as the name of the interface.

    4. On the IPv4 tab, under IP Settings, select Disable IPv4.

      If you want to use more than one network interface for the Transparent Bridge mode, configure more unused network interfaces of an appliance in
      the way described in steps 2 - 4.  Use ibr1, ibr2, and so on, for their names.

 5. Configure Central Management settings for the Transparent Bridge mode.

      a. Select Central Management on the left of the user interface.

      b. Under Central Management Settings, add the IP address you configured for the ibr0 network interface to the list that is provided.

 6. Click Save Changes.

You have now configured network interface and Central Management settings for a director node in Transparent Bridge mode.
